CSL – Central Science Laboratory

CSL is an executive agency of the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs. In 1996 it moved to purpose built state for the art laboratory facilities at Sand Hutton near York. Here over 500 scientists work on a wide variety of fields relevant to agriculture environment and the food industry. Of particular relevance is the long established expertise in developing antibodies and immunoassays to a wide variety of analytes (www.forsitediagnostics.com   www.pocketdiagnostic.com). CSL also has a strong food safety and authenticity research group with an extensive portfolio of molecular biology and proteomic projects commissioned by the UK food standards Agency.
